Tennessee

We couldn't pass up the opportunity to drive only 5 hours to see all of Tim's family. It sure beats a 13 hour drive to Sarasota. They all decided to take a week to visit the Smokey Mountains. Unfortunately, due to work conflicts we couldn't take that much time, but it was great to visit with everyone for the short amount we were there.

2 Years- Virginia Beach

This year we visited Virginia Beach to celebrate our two years. It is only 3.5 hours away from where we live, so it was a great location for a 3 day weekend. We asked people who had visited there if it was nice and we received positive feedback. Okay, I am just going to be honest and say the downtown beach area is a little run down. It was probably really nice and cool back in the day. However, we had a GREAT time and lots of FUN. We found a beautiful residential area, just north of the main strip, that had public beach access. This area was less crowded and more relaxing.
We also enjoyed some activities on the 3 mile boardwalk. These bikes were not easy, but definitely a lot of fun.

We enjoyed some great restaurants- Rudees, Pizzeria, and Doc Taylors just to name a few.

Our last night we decided to get away from the beach area and head to Towne Center. Towne Center is filled with great restaurants like Ruth's Chris, Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Changs. We were in the mood for asian and Tim had never experienced P. F. Changs so we decided that is where we should dine. I think Tim liked it ;)

On our last morning, my wonderful husband agreed to wake up super early with me so I could watch the sun rise over the ocean for the first time! 5:30 am came quickly, but the sunrise was beautiful and I was so happy to finally see one!

Sally Visits

Sally, Tim's mom, arrived Friday afternoon (July 2). We enjoyed a nice visit with her and showed her the beautiful city of Lynchburg and surrounding areas.

Friday evening started off with our favorite, fish tacos, and ended with a nice walk on the Blackwater Creek Trails.

Saturday was busy with a visit to the market to pick up some fresh baked bread and our produce from the co-op, a hike up Crabtree Falls, and dinner at Millstone Tea Room.

Sunday started off with a nice morning chat, a bike ride, and breakfast. Then we headed off to church at Redeemer. We enjoyed lunch, shopping and a delicious dinner (Tim made the BEST homemade pizza). We ended the night with a nice show of fireworks to celebrate the 4th from the Hillcats Stadium.

Monday we enjoyed more time together, made a visit to the JCREW clearance store for some great deals, and dropped her off at the Roanoke airport!

What a GREAT visist! Now we are ready for the rest of the family to come visit!!
